Building the pipeline will enable oil extracted to be used, eventually depleting natural resources. Oil are fossil fuels that will emit greenhouse gasses and pollute the environment when used. However, it will contribute towards economic growth as it will generate 2,000 jobs and reduce the need to import oil. Although building the pipeline may benefit the country’s economy, it may increase external cost as the health and well-being of the community will be effected by the pollution. Therefore, the government should not allow GOP to build the pipeline.
