What are communication barriers

Communication barriers occur when there are obstacles preventing clear and effective communication.

If measures are not taken to overcome the obstacle, it may result in a communication breakdown. A communication breakdown will lead to misunderstanding from ineffective communication or targeted information to the wrong parties. Among the examples of barriers to communication are;

  1. Language barriers

  2. Too much technical jargon used

  3. Poor connection (online) or restricted access

  4. Email restriction

  5. Excessive information

  6. Message lost in transit
